Meet Charyse

Aloha! My name is Charyse Harvick and I am a licensed acupuncturist. I recently moved to Waialua and I'm happy to have found Dr. Carie and her beautiful practice to be a part of.

I’m a lover of all things to do with nurturing ourselves and being in nature. I surf, hike, dance, travel and soak up the sun and this beautiful land. I’m a mom to two amazing children (I'm biased!) who are truly my greatest teachers (this is a cliche but boy is it true).  When I’m not immersed in healing work you will find me homeschooling my kids and adventuring outside with my family.

I approach my work from a grounded, intuitive and heart centered space. I believe we all have our health journey(s) and there are many paths we can take. I am so grateful for all the healing I have experienced in my life and I’m honored and humbled to help others along their healing path.

My experience has come in many forms. As a child, I spent a lot of time in nature which was the beginning of my training. As I got older, I studied anthropology, dance ethnology, and movement therapy.

Like many of us in the healing profession, it was my own healing journey that led me to the path of being an acupuncturist. I had chronic hormonal issues and with acupuncture, herbal medicine, and diet and lifestyle changes I balanced my hormones and stepped away from taking birth control as my long standing hormonal remedy.  It was truly life changing!

I have been in practice since 2011. Over the years I have collaborated with chiropractors, naturopaths, midwives, therapists, and functional medicine doctors and believe in the integrative approach and meeting the patient where they are. I’m a lifelong learner. Some of my experiences include:

  • Completing a master's program at The World Medicine Institute, a traditional Taoist based acupuncture school in Aina Haina, Oahu.

  • Volunteering acupuncture at a Tibetan buddhist monastery in Nepal.

  • Studying and practicing bagua, qigong, and meditation for 18+ years.

  • Having my own practice and sharing space with a naturopath and reiki master in Honolulu.

  • Working at a birth and women's center in Flagstaff, Arizona.

  • Having my own practice in Flagstaff, Arizona.

  • Teaching an in-person and on-line qigong and mindful movement class for the last 8 years.

  • Participating in an ongoing mentorship program called, Acupuncture for Surviving Adversity.

My specialties are women's health (hormones, fertility and postpartum care), auto immune issues, psychological concerns, and Gu syndrome (a term that relates to chronic digestive issues and latent viruses such as long covid, Lyme’s disease, etc).

I also offer energy work and have extensive experience in grief and trauma work.

I understand that healing doesn’t happen in a straight line and I hold space for the journey. I often blend lifestyle changes, nutrition, and herbal medicine along with acupuncture, energy work and qigong.  Looking at the body as a whole integrated system and honoring the body, mind and spirit is where the magic happens. That magic is in all of us.
