Aloha! My name is Rie, I am from Yokohama, Japan. I came to Hawaii for grad school at UH, and graduated from the Department of Kinesiology in 2002. I worked as a tennis teaching professional/personal trainer for over 10yrs, then decided to go back to massage school and became a certified ART provider and licensed massage therapist in 2014.

Active Release Technique is a specialized hands-on soft tissue therapy that can provide relief from pain, improve mobility, and restore function. ART involves applying deep specific pressure to soft tissues, such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves, while the patient actively moves the affected area (provider will guide how to move). This combination of manual pressure and active patient participation helps to break down adhesions and scar tissue that can restrict movement and cause pain, and improve the range of motion and function of the affected tissues. 

I recovered from severe tennis elbow injury by receiving the ART treatments. I believe everyone can benefit from ART therapy, and I would love to support people by all means necessary to help them reach their goals and/or guiding them into a better situation than their current one. Healing hands and my physical education background will contribute to supporting and reviving YOUR quality of life.
